PRECISION LAYOUT SOLUTIONS
Robotic Layout Services
We're printing unmatched accuracy onto construction slabs New Zealand wide.
Precision robotic slab printing, and site layouts for faster, more accurate builds.
PLS brings millimetre-accurate robotic site layout technology to building sites across New Zealand. Designed to reduce errors, speed up timelines, and take the guesswork out of set-outs, we help builders move from plans to frames with total confidence.
Millimetre-Accurate Layouts
Get precise, repeatable markings straight from your CAD files reducing errors and eliminating guesswork onsite.
Faster Start to Your Build
Robotic printing completes layouts up to ten times faster than manual marking, helping crews begin framing sooner.
Reduce Rework & Costly Delays
With consistent, highly accurate set-outs, you avoid mistakes that snowball into wasted labour and expensive fix ups.
Clear Markings for Every Trade
Printed walls, openings and service points make on-site coordination easier for builders, electricians, plumbers and clients.
How do PLS site layouts work?

GREG AVERY - BUILDER & FOUNDER OF PLS.
A builder-led business committed to making things easier.
After years on the tools, I saw how much time, labour and stress went into traditional slab marking, and how quickly a small layout error could snowball into delays or rework.
PLS was built to make that part of the process easier. By combining practical building experience with cutting-edge HP SitePrint and Leica RTS technology, we help crews work faster, smarter and with total confidence in their set-out.
Commonly Asked Questions:
What files do I need to provide and how do you prepare them?
Clients send us their DWG and PDF drawings. Using HP’s AutoCAD/Revit plug‑in, we remove any unnecessary layers and identify which lines, arcs, text and control points need printing and mark any obstacles. The plug‑in then converts the design into a “robot‑ready” 2D file, which we return for your approval. Once you approve the robot‑ready file, we lock in a print date.
How accurate and fast is site printing?
Because the robot is guided by a Robotic Total Station, you get the same accuracy as you would with a conventional RTS layout - about 3mm. HP SitePrint can print up to 340m2 per hour. These speeds depend on line density and complexity, but they’re much faster than manual chalk‑line methods.
Can the robot handle obstacles and different surfaces?
Yes. HP SitePrint’s printhead sits 19 mm above the floor, so it prints on dusty or uneven slabs without needing a broom‑swept surface. It uses dual sensor systems including a depth camera and safety sensors to detect obstacles, cliffs and depressions and either slow down or stop to avoid them. HP offers eight interchangeable inks, enabling printing on tarmac, rough concrete, plywood and formwork; these inks range from permanent to erasable, so we choose the right one for your project.
How many people are needed and how should the site be prepared?
Only one operator is required to monitor the robot during printing. The site conditions can be similar to manual layout; clearing large obstacles improves productivity, but the robot will print over dust, damp patches and small height differences. Each battery runs about four hours, and swapping the two batteries allows a full day of continuous printing.
How does pricing work and what do I receive after the job?
The pricing is done on a job by job basis. Once we have received the DWG files we take our time looking through them and establishing the time it will take to make robot ready (as every file is configured differently). Then with the help from the HP simulator we establish the time it will take to print and price accordingly from there. After printing, we provide a print report and the final files for your records, giving you a detailed record of what was printed and when.
We understand site printing is an investment and you might have further questions. Simply get in touch for a no obligation phone call to discuss how PLS can help you.
